Activity data

What we record

  • Posts and videos you view, and how long they were on screen.
  • Jobs and events you open, save, apply to, or RSVP to.
  • Profiles you open, and searches you run.
  • Groups you join and posts you write, comment on, or react to.
  • Donations you make through the platform.
  • When you were last active, and which device you signed in from.

Who can see it

UniBuzz, and any administrators of your university's community on UniBuzz, can see this activity including at an individual level. It is used to run and improve the platform, to plan programmes, and to identify alumni who may want to support university initiatives.

We do not sell it, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. UniBuzz carries no third-party or advertising tracking of any kind.

What we use it for

  • Ordering your feed and suggesting people, jobs and events that fit you.
  • Showing your university how their community is engaging, so they can run it better.
  • Keeping the platform safe - spam, abuse and fraud detection.

Turning it off

Settings > Data privacy. Switching it off removes you from what your university's team can see and from the reports they receive. The platform keeps working; recommendations simply get less specific to you.

Fundraising and marketing emails are separate and always require their own opt-in - a change here does not sign you up for them, and turning them off does not affect this.

Deleting it

Deleting your account removes this activity along with it. If your university leaves UniBuzz, everything recorded under it is purged. See the full privacy policy for retention periods and your rights under PIPEDA and the GDPR.
